What is the difference between jogging strollers and lightweight strollers? Here is a comparison:

1. Purpose: The running or jogging strollers or baby jogger strollers help you keep fit and enjoy the outdoors with your child and great for use on- and off-road while the lightweight stroller are  easier for travel and quick trips to the mall or zoo. It also allows your baby to ride while you shop in style.

2. Stability: Most of the jogging strollers or baby jogger strollers have a fixed front wheel that enables the stroller to track in a straight line while jogging or running. A select few have a front swivel wheel that locks forward for exercise. If you aren’t training for a marathon, a jogging stroller with 16″ wheels all around will suit you fine. However, if you are training for a marathon, we suggest a running stroller with 20″ wheels. Jogging stroller or the jogging baby strollers models also feature shocks or suspension for a smooth ride. Lightweight strollers are less stable because they have smaller wheels than jogging strollers.

3. Mobility: A jogging stroller has features that make it much safer and easier to push and maneuver. This will give you more control over bumps (even at your faster pace), and you’ll find it easier to roll over curbs or uneven surfaces. Whether you’re power walking for exercise or just getting from place to place, these strollers let you navigate those bumpy sidewalks with ease. If you have ever tried to push a lightweight stroller (the ones with the small wheels) you will remember how hard it was to get over even a small bump or object and it would bounce and jiggle like crazy on a rough road.

4. Safety: If you run over bumpy surfaces, built-in shocks can help smooth out the ride and make it easier on your upper body! Jogging stroller models also feature shocks or suspension for a smooth ride.

5. Comfort. For taller joggers, the jogging strollers or the  jogging baby strollers have adjustable handle bars just like the lightweight stroller. The four-position reclining seat, which is padded and cushioned adds comfort for the baby.

6. Storage features. Since jogging strollers are very durable and sturdy, it’s not easy to just stow it away. Lightweight strollers fold very small and compact for ease in storage. Lightweight strollers are portable and versatile, easy to stash in a trunk without taking up too much space. This stroller folds and unfolds easily, and folds up small enough to fit in an overhead bin on an airplane.

7. Other features. These strollers come with a sunshade canopy, rain cover, carry strap and five-point harness. A small basket holds parent gear under the seat. These strollers are equipped with removable front armrest for ease in getting baby in an out; a sun shade for baby and is compatible with some infant car seats.

If you are still juggling on what stroller to purchase, the information you need should be based on the choice that fits your needs and lifestyle.
